This one is a pretty quick & simple hack. I got this free-after-rebate mousepad for my collection (I have about a 2 foot high stack of padz as of this writing). It had a fairly nice gel wrist rest built into it. The problem with the pad is that it was cloth, which really makes a mess of the mouse internals. The pad was also very small, not good!

Final Thoughts:
Okay okay okay, so I just used some scissors to slice this thing up...but like they say, "No hack too small." Also,
after using this thing for a long time I relized it's even more comfortable if I raise up my mouse pad closer to the
level of the gel pad. No problem, just grab a couple padz from my collection and stack 'em!
